David J. Ranz Commences Service as U.S. Consul General in Mumbai

Mumbai: Mr. David Ranz assumed the post of Consul General of the United States in Mumbai on August 26, 2019, succeeding former Consul General Edgard Kagan.
Immediately prior to coming to Mumbai, Consul General Ranz served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South Asia (India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Maldives) in the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs; and prior to that as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Pakistan. A native of New York and a career diplomat since 1992, Consul General Ranz’s previous assignments include postings in Egypt, Iraq, Morocco, Jerusalem, and Pakistan.
“It is an honor to represent the United States of America in western India. The U.S.-India relationship stands upon a shared commitment to democratic values and the rule of law. These shared values, along with our economic ties and the close links between our peoples, present enormous opportunities to further advance our partnership in western India.” Mr. Ranz said.
Consul General Ranz is accompanied in Mumbai by his wife, Taly Lind, a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Agency for International Development. They have two children.
