Amit Shah undergoes minor surgery at private hospital in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who had arrived here last night on a non-political visit to his home-town, was today admitted to a private hospital for a minor surgery.

Shah was admitted to private Kusum Dhirajlal (KD) hospital near Vashnodevi circle on S G Highway on the outskirts of the city. KD hospital is owned by former MCI head Dr. Ketan Desai.

Some routine tests were conducted and the minister cum party president underwent a minor surgery of Lipoma (a kind of benign non-cancerous tumor) on the neck under local anesthesia. The operation was done successfully after which he was discharged.

A lipoma is a lump under the skin that occurs mostly due to an overgrowth of fat cells. Doctors consider lipomas to be benign tumors, and they are non-cancerous growths.

Managing Director of the hospital Dr Adit Desai in a statement issued after the operation said, ‘Today Mr. Amit Shah, Honourable Home Minister of India, was admitted at about 9 am at K D Hospital, Ahmedabad. He was successfully operated for Lipoma at the back side of neck under local Anasthesia. After this minor surgery he has been discharged.”

Shah had recently visited Gujarat and participated in a few public events including the 7th convocation of the PDPU.

54 years old Shah is a diabetic for a long time. He is likely to stay here till tomorrow and rest and spent time with family at his Thaltej residence.
