September 06, 2019
Gandhinagar: Gujarat has 5350 medical seats, of which 675 are reserved from tribals (Scheduled Tribes). The government had received complains that as many as 80 students had managed to get admission on seats reserved for tribal by producing fake caste certificates. When checked, the government found most of these 80 students genuine and real tribal candidates, however 28 students were not responding to repeated notices issued by scrutiny committee. Scrutiny committee therefore decided to take help of police(at DySP level). Finally, only three of 28 students appeared before committee while rest 25 didn’t respond. Of them 24 students surrendered their seats. They have been converted to open category. According to tribal development commissioner, police complaint have been filed in two cases in Godhra.
