PM Modi has accepted Gujarat govt.’s invitation to remain present at main Namami Devi Narmade Mahotsav at Sardar Sarovar dam on September 17, his birthday: CM Rupani

Gandhinagar: PM Narendra Modi has accepted the invitation of the Gujarat government to remain present at its main function of statewide ‘Namami Devi Narmade Mahotsav’ at Kevadia in Central Gujarat on 17 September, his birthday, to mark crossing of 138 m water level in Sardar Sarovar Narmada dam, the lifeline of water supply in the western state.

CM Vijay Rupani today informed.

He said that the state government had tendered invite to PM Modi and we are happy that he has accepted the invitation and would remain present at Kevadiya on September 17. He would also offer prayers to the Narmada water on the occasion.

‘The Sardar Sarovar dam was the dream of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel which was fulfilled by PM Modi. The whole of Gujarat is very happy as the dam has crossed 138 meter mark for the first time and full almost to its brim,’ he said.

Notably, the highest level or overflow mark of the dam is 138.68 m and the level at 5 pm this evening was 138.14 m and rising. Even though the authorities were reportedly trying hard to delay the overflow to as close possible to September 17 yet the likelihood of it happening anytime due to heavy inflow from MP side could not be ruled out.
