Water in Narmada dam at 138 meter level mark; further storage to continue due to flood concerns linked to high tide in sea

Bharuch: Level of water at Sardar Sarovar Narmada dam in Gujarat today touched historic 138 meter level. The highest level of water possible in this dam is 138.68 meter. According to Managing Director of Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited Dr. Rajiv Kumar Gupta, further storage in dam is necessary to control flood situation in district headquarters Bharuch city in downstream of river Narmada and 175 villages across 3 districts of Central Gujarat due to high tide in sea which makes discharge of water into the sea nearly impossible. Dr. Gupta said district administration has requested to control outflow from Narmada dam in downstream of river due to high tide in sea and related flood possibilities.
