Gujarat to end use of Non Judicial Physical Stamps from October 1: Revenue Minister

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government has decided to end the use of Non Judicial Physical Stamps with effect from October 1.

Only digitally printed e-stamps would be used from that day.

Revenue Minister of the state Kaushik Patel said that the state government has taken this decision has been taken to help people.

‘Complaints about the artificial shortages of physical stamps and its sell at higher prices etc., were received by the government due to which the state government has taken this decision,’ he said.

He also said that e-stamps could be purchased from various authorized institutions and places including scheduled banks, post office, Chartered Accountants and Company Secretaries, Common Service Center under the E-governance plan, Licensed Notaries and other authorized people/centers. Such digital revenue certificates and e-stamps could be verified through apps and websites.


Key points:

– Use and sell of non judicial physical stamp papers will end with effect from 1st October.

– Ahmedabad will have 60 e-stamping centres and 169 franking machine facilities in various bank branches.

– The government has decided to give licenses to stamp vendors, notary, chartered accountants, company secretaries and banks for e-stamping.

– Stamp papers purchased before 30th September will be allowed to use for six month period from the date of purchase.
