Gujarat govt to set up 82 new automatic weather stations, 76 automatic water level recorders

Gandhinagar: Gujarat will have 82 new automatic weather stations and 76 new automatic water level recorders.
The Government of Gujarat today in a statement said it has given nod to Rs. 26.25 crore purchases to set up real time information system in the State for effective and strong water resource management.
Apart from 82 new automatic weather stations for real time information of surface water, the government will also upgrade 50 existing automatic stations.
For real-time and self-generated data of water level in reservoirs and dams, the State government has decided to set up automatic water level recorders at 104 rivers and 76 reservoirs.
It’s worth noting here that the Government of India has approved 100% grant of Rs. 101 crore for 8-year period under National Hydrology Project for surface and ground water in Gujarat. The State government has to work on water resource information system, public awareness, hydrology modelling, research activity, studies, training and capacity building through this grant.
