Rain’s interruption to Navratri celebrations in Gujarat continues, Satlasana sees over 7 inches rain

Gandhinagar: Rain’s interruption to Navratri, the most colourful and popular festival of Gujarat continued for the second day today with 31 of the 33 districts in the western state witnessing rain till 6 pm.
Heavy rain in parts of North and East Central parts of the state has been predicted for tomorrow as well.
However, rain is likely to subside from October 2. The met has not issued any heavy rain warning after tomorrow but the possibility of occasion interruption with spells of light to moderate rain would be there.
Ahmedabad city is likely to remain more or less heavy-rain free tomorrow giving hope to Khelaiyas to participate in Garba from third Norta.
In the last 24 hours ending 6 am today, 213 talukas of 33 districts had seen rain with Bhanvad in Devbhoomi Dwarka seeing maximum 328 mm. NDRF was deployed in Porbandar and Rajkot for rescue operations.
Today from 6 am to 6 pm, 192 talukas of 31 districts have seen rain with maximum 179 mm in Satlasana of Mahesana district. Bhabhar in Banaskantha has seen 154mm, Radhanpur in Patan 112 mm, Kankrej 103 mm, Deodar 96 mm and Siddhpur 79. A total of 79 places have seen one inch or more rain. The rain percentage in the state has reached close to 138%.

SYNOPTIC SITUATION:
The Depression over Gujarat, region & adjoining Saurashtra moved east-northeastwards with a speed of 15 kmph during the past 6 hours and lay centered at 1430 hours IST of today, over Gujarat, region & adjoining Saurashtra near latitude 23.5°N and longitude 71.6°E, about 110 km northwest of Ahmedabad (Gujarat) and 90 km southwest of Deesa (Gujarat). It is very likely to continue to move east-northeastwards during next 24 hours. It is very likely to maintain the intensity of depression today and weaken into a well marked low pressure area on 1st October.
