Boost to MSME sector as Gujarat cabinet decides to waive off various approvals for first three years

Gandhinagar: A meeting of State cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today took several decisions pertaining to Ease of Doing Business for MSME sector.
– MSME units are relieved from obtaining various approvals from the government for first three years of functioning. After three years period, they shall be able to get approvals in next six months.
– The government will bring ‘The Gujarat Micro Small & Medium Enterprizes Facilitation Ordinance – 2019’ to boost the MSME sector industries.
– Two nodal agencies will set up – one at State level and the other at district level to provide assistance and cooperation in setting up MSME units.
– ‘Investors Facilitation Agency’ will be set up at State level, while ‘District Industries Centres’ will be set up at district levels.
– A person or entrepreneur intending to set up an industrial unit will need to submit a ‘Declaration of Intent’ to set up an industrial unit at the State level nodal agency, scrutiny of which shall be done by the State level nodal agency, before issuing acknowledgement certificate. Such certificate will be considered as approval for next three years to setup and run industrial unit. MSME will be able to function for next three years without any other permission. After this period, permissions will need to be obtained in next six months period.
