Rahul again skips circuit house lunch to have Gujarati food at heritage hotel

Ahmedabad: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today enjoyed Gujarati food here at famous Agashiye heritage hotel where PM Narendra Modi had in September 2017 hosted dinner for his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe and his wife Akie.

Gandhi, who arrived here for court appearance in connection with defamation cases, again skipped lunch at the circuit house and went to Agashiye hotel in Bhadra road close to the court in the old city. Senior party leaders including Gujarat in-charge Rajiv Satav, state president Amit Chavda, leader of opposition in Gujarat assembly Paresh Dhanani were also present with him.

During his earlier court appearance here on July 12 also he had skipped lunch at circuit house to have Gujarati food items in Swati Snacks restaurant in plush Law Garden area of the city. Rahul, who had earlier during his election campaign trips also expressed his fondness for Gujarat food had Dhokla, Fadi Ni Khichadi, Coconut water etc in Swati restaurant.
Today he was served traditional Gujarati thali in Agashiye.

Notably, ‘Agashiye’ in Gujarati means on the terrace. This stunning Gujarati Thali restaurant, which in full is called Agashiye, the house of MG, is spread over two huge terraces interconnected by a smaller one that houses a wooden cottage. The menu normally changes daily at Agashiye. The food is served in a kansa thali (kansa is an alloy that has many wellness benefits) and the meal starts with a choice of Indian breads and ends with rice.The House of MG has published its own set of cookbooks called Bhojan no Anand (The joy of a meal), a compilation of Gujarati recipes in a set of five volumes, each with five books and one DVD.

The congress leader had along with other items Khichdi kadi, Bhakhari, Bhajiya, Dhokla etc.
