Rajkot: Over 150 people including women and children were treated for burning sensation and watering of eyes in the city today after they all felt this problem following participation in a marital event of a Muslim family in Rudi Chwok in Raiyadhar area under university police station of Rajkot city in Gujarat.

RMO of the Civil Hospital here Dr Rao said that all the around 160 had suffered from the problem, caused most likely due to the strong lighting done for the event. They all were administered with proper dose of eye drops and other medicines. Their condition improved and they were allowed to go home.

Meanwhile, A B Mokarshi (50) for the marriage of whose son Mohammed the event was organized, said that they stopped the event midway in the night when some children complained of burning of eyes. Later many of his family members including the bride who was also present there and others felt the problem. They all went to hospital in the wee hours today. He said that he did not know as to what exactly caused it.
