Anil Mukim set to become new Chief Secretary of Gujarat

Gandhinagar: A 1985 batch Gujarat cadre Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Anil Gopishankar Mukim is all set to become new Chief Secretary of Gujarat with effect from 1st December, replacing Dr. J.N.Singh.
The Appointments Committee of Union Cabinet has approved his repatriation to parent cadre (Gujarat) on the request of the State Government with immediate effect today.
Anil Mukim is at present Secretary in ministry of mines in the Centre. He was transferred to Centre in February 2018 and appointed at present post in April last year.
Mukim had worked closely with then Chief Minister Narendra Modi in early 2000s in Chief Minister’s office.
1960-born Anil Mukim was appointed as IAS on 26th of August in 1985. He is B.Com (Management), LLB. Only two IAS officers senior than him in Gujarat cadre are Sujit Gulati, MD of GSFC whose appointment date was same as Mukim and Arvind Agrawal who is 1984 batch IAS, presently ACS, Finance. Mukim is scheduled to retire in August 2020. If granted extension which can be maximum 6-month, he will see retirement in February 2021. Present Chief Secretary Dr. JN Singh was scheduled to retire on 31st of May this year, however he was given 6-month extension.
