Junagadh: A youth was today nabbed red handed by the forest department in Bhanduri village of Junagadh district in Gujarat while he was receiving a parcel from Rajasthan reportedly containing lion’s nails.
CCF Junagadh D T Vasavada said, ‘ Piyush Ratilal Joshi (21) was caught red-handed during a trap laid at his residence in Bhanduri village under Malia Hatina taluka while he was receiving a parcel from Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan having nails of wildlife (sold as lion nails). The deal happened through Facebook. The person is being interrogated and will be produced in the court tomorrow.’
Vasavada said that prima facie the nails looked like those of a lion. To a query he said that it would also be investigated as to why a man living in the midst of Gir forests, the sole abode of Asiatic lions, had approached someone in Rajasthan to get the lion’s nails.
