SCADL approves public bi-cycle system for Ahmedabad, inks agreement with MyByk and Yulu for 24×7 cycle/electric scooter service

Ahmedabad: Smart City Ahmedabad Development Ltd. (SCADL) has under the national urban transport policy 2006 given approval to the public bicycle system in the city for cost-effective and environment friendly last mile connectivity.
SCADL has entered in to agreement with MyByk for making available 1000 bi-cycles for the same in 3 months and with Yulu for providing 500 electric scooters in six months time.
A total of over 200 bike stations across the state including those near BRTS stations, markets, offices, schools-colleges, residential areas and gardens etc would be created for the same. From these stations one can take these geared and non geared bicycles and electric scooters at rent. The facility for charging the electric scooters would also be available there.
The two companies have been given permission to operate these stations 24×7.
This initiative will also help ease up the traffic jams and also the air pollution in the city, a press release of the SCADL issued today said.
