Rupani to launch sewage treated water recycling scheme to irrigate Sabarmati downstream areas through Fatewadi canal
December 20, 2019
Ahmedabad: As part of the Gujarat Government’s new scheme, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani will launch sewage treated water recycling scheme to irrigate Sabarmati River downstream Vasna barrage areas in the Fatewadi canal command areas in Daskroi, Sanand, Bavla and Dholka talukas in Ahmedabad.
This has been necessitated due to reduced intake from the Narmada waters into the Vasna reservoir for the last two years. This scheme will cost Rs1.00-crore and irrigate 12,000 hectares of land to produce additional crop worth Rs.80-crore.
While the Vasna barrage capacity is 189 million cubic foot, the scheme could irrigate 26 times the barrage’s capacity, overcoming the reduced water inflow from the Narmada.
