GSSSB Non-secretariat clerk exam: 6 including relative of arrested Congress coroprator Shehzad khan and party leader held for paper leak

Gandhinagar: Altogether 6 people including a relative of Congress corporator Shehzad Pathan, arrested in connection with the recent violence in Shah-e-Alam area in Ahmedabad city during anti CAA/NRC protests, and another local party leader have been nabbed in connection with the sensational paper leak incident of non-secretariat clerk exam of the GSSSB.

IG of Gandhinagar range Mayanksinh Chavda who was one of the members of the SIT constituted for the probe of the malpractices in the November 17 exam which was ultimately cancelled, today informed.

He said that during investigation it has come to fore that the paper was leaked at MS High School center in Danilimada area of Ahmedabad. Nawab Builder who runs the school is uncle of Danilimada Congress corporator Shehzad. Nawab’s brother in law Farukh Qureshi who is by profession advocate and works as an honorary operator of the school was involved in paper leak and has been arrested. He had intentionally came late on the day of exam and let the paper leak happen. Another arrested person Fakhruddin, a teacher in the school had cut the seal of the paper almost two hours before the exam to hand it over to the main conspirator Pravin Gadhvi (still at large). Fakhruddin had also taken photo of the paper to leak it.

Congress worker Lakhvinder Singh has also been arrested in this connection. The principal of the school Vijaysinh Vaghela and two others Deepak Joshi and Ram Gadhvi have also been arrested.

Chavda said that six teams have been made to arrest others involved in the matter. He said that so far the paper leak at one center has come to fore but it was also possible that it might have been leaked at other centers too. It is being investigated.

He said that the conspiracy of paper leak could be surfaced on the basis of the investigation of the sized mobile phones in connection with paper leak through whatsapp and telegram apps.

He said that so far only 6 arrests have been made and more would follow.

Notably on December 16 the state government had decided to cancel the malpractice marred exam of non-secretariat clerk of the Gujarat Subordinate Service Selection Board (GSSSB) held on November 17 on the basis of the report of the special investigation team (SIT).

A meeting of the SIT with CM, DyCM and Education Minister was held that day in which it was decided to cancel the exam.

Notably on December 5, In the wake of the strong protest by the aspirants of the exam the state government had announced to constitute a special investigation team (SIT) for detailed probe of the matter. The SIT constituted under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary of the General Administration Department, Kamal Dayani IAS would have two senior police officers ADGP (CID) Manoj Shashidharan and I G -Gandhinagar Mayanksinh Chavda and Additional Secretary (GAD) Jwalant Trivedi IAS as its three members. The SIT constituted on the instructions of CM Vijay Rupani was to hand over its to the government in around 10 days which it had done.

The SIT was constituted after the discussion with the student leaders of the agitating aspirants namely Yuvrajsinh Jadeja, Yuvrajsinh Gohil, Hardki Prajapati and Bhavsinh Rathod. The SIT had done the investigation of the CCTV and mobile phone footage in the presence of the student representatives.

The reference for the SIT as per the demands of the students included the investigation as to whether the paper of the exam was leaked or not. It had in its initial report concluded that prima facie the paper was leaked.

There were 39 complaints of malpractices, 305 related CCTV footage were also checked to verify the complaints. The exam, in which more than 8 lakh candidates had appeared was conducted at 3173 centers. Those centers where the complaints of malpractices would be confirmed would be blacklisted.

A criminal case with regard to the malpractice in the exam was lodged in sector 7 police station here.
