Surat fire brigade team rescue people stuck in Merry Go Round ride

Surat: Over 50 people including women and children were rescued tonight from a giant wheel ride which suddenly got stuck due to breaking of its shaft in a fair in Mora village on Hazira road on the outskirts of Surat city in Gujarat, In-charge Deputy Chief Fire Officer Dipak H Makhijani said.
Makhijani said that a hydraulic platform and a turn table ladder were used for the rescue operation.
He said that the rescue operation started at around 0740 pm.
The giant wheel ride was almost 30 meters high and it got stuck while running due to sudden breaking of its shaft. All the people sitting on the cage like structures on the upper side of the ride got trapped there.They were safely rescued by the fire brigade team during the operation that lasted well past 10 pm ie for over 3 hours.
Mora village is around 12 kms from the city.
