Met makes changes in non-seasonal rain related forecast for Gujarat, light rain now likely on Jan 12, 13 in more areas

Ahmedabad: The met department has made changes in its earlier rain forecast for parts of Gujarat and said that such spell of rain was likely for two days instead of earlier predicted one day.

According to the latest met bulletin issued here this evening by the IMD center light rain was likely to take place in parts of Gujarat tomorrow and day after tomorrow.

It will happen due to atmospheric changes caused by western disturbances.

Rise in minimum temperature by 2-3 degree Celsius over the region during
next 2-3 days was also very likely. Thereafter gradual fall in minimum temperature over the region was very likely, the bulletin said.

The rain related forecast is as following –
DAY-2(Valid from 0830 Hrs. IST of 12/01/2020 to 0830 Hrs. IST of 13/01/2020):-
Light rain likely at isolated places in Kutch district.
DAY-3(Valid from 0830 Hrs. IST of 13/01/2020 to 0830 Hrs. IST of 14/01/2020):-
Light rain likely at isolated places in the district of North Gujarat region namely Banaskantha; in the districts of Saurashtra-Kutch namely Junagadh, Gir Somnath, Porbandar and Kutch.

Meanwhile the minimum temperatures across Gujarat have improved substantially today with only two places seeing the mercury dipping below 10 °C and Naliya which was remaining below 5 °C for the past two days though was coldest yet again but with a much improved figure of 8.6 °C.

Deesa was the only other sub 10 °C place in the state today at 8.8 °C.

According to the official data issued by the IMD center here this morning the minimum temperature Ahmedabad was also almost 2 notches above that of yesterday at 12.3 °C.

Notably the met department has said that the biting cold being felt in Ahmedabad and many other places in Gujarat was not due to any cold-wave but due to the abnormally low maximum temperatures resulting in lowering of the median temperatures.
