Surat: An old building 3 storey building of an embroidery factory in Katargam area of Surat city today suddenly collapsed, police said.

At least three people trapped there were rescued and admitted to a private hospital. However unconfirmed reports said that one person had died in the incident.

The incident took place in the building Geeta Estate situated beside Bastadevi road, Divisional Fire Officer Ashok R Saluke.

Mayor Jagdish Patel, who also arrived on the spot, later told newsmen that three people have been rescued and search was on by the fire brigade rescuers to check whether there were other people trapped in the debris or not.
