119 toddlers dumped in last five years in Surat

Surat: 119 toddlers were dumped in last 5 years in Surat. Of them 70 were female while 49 were males. Some of them were dumped in dustbins while some others on footpaths or roads. Bal Suraksha unit official Jayendrasinh opines that toddlers must not be dumped in unsafe condition. There is a facility outside orphanage where one can leave unwanted child safely.
In a latest incident, a girl child wrapped in kite string was dumped in Panas village dustbin. Later the investigation by Umra police revealed that 18 year old girl who dumped the child was made pregnant by her 16 year old younger brother.
