Jailed Congress coporator Shehzad Pathan participates in AMC general body meet

Ahmedabad:  Congress coporator, Shehzad Pathan, who was in jail in connection with December 19 violence during anti CAA/NRC protests in Shah-e-Alam area of the city, today participated in the general body meeting of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation on the basis of temporary bail granted to him for the same by a local court here.

Pathan, who was detained in the evening of December 19 when several policemen and others injured in heavy stone pelting during the protests in Muslim dominated Shah-e-Alam area in the city was later formally arrested the next day by the crime branch. He is in judicial custody (jail currently).

A local court had granted him temporary bail for five hours for participating in the general body meet of the AMC accepting his plea that it was compulsory for him to participate in it otherwise his membership could be scrapped for third consecutive absence for such a meeting.

Pathan, the AMC corporator form Danilimda area of the city arrived at the coporation office in Danapeeth with police to participate in the meeting which turned out to be chaotic. It was later adjourned amid sloganeering in favour of CAA bill by the members of ruling BJP and protest by Congress.
