Gujarat CM, Dy CM, State BJP welcome union budget, State Congress criticizes it

Gandhinagar/Ahmedabad: Gujarat government, ruling BJP and the Industry and cooperative sector in the state have lauded the union budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman while main opposition Congress has criticized it.

CM Vijay Rupani in his initial reaction called it an all-inclusive budget.

DyCM Nitin Patel said that steps to strengthen the economy has been taken and special focus has been put on doubling the income of farmers by 2020.

State President of ruling BJP Jeetu Vaghani said that the Modi government has taken care of all the sectors and segments of the society including women, village, poor and the youth. He said that the first budget of the 2020 decade was like a road-map for the vision of PM Modi to make the country a $5 trillion economy in next 4 years.

However, main opposition congress in the state has criticized the budget. State president of the party Amit Chavda said that the long budget speech did not deliver anything on the front of dealing with burning issues like unemployment, price-rise and other important issues. It also lacked clarity.

Meanwhile the Industries and Industry bodies and the cooperative in this highly industrial western state has by and large praised the budget.

President of the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry Durgesh Buch said that though it would take some time to study the budget in detail and understand all the implications yet at the first glance it looked good for various sectors including the MSME sector.

He said that the reaction of share market by dip in the index should not be taken as a permanent reaction. It might have happened due to the seemingly non-fulfilment of some of the market’s primary expectations but it might surge again after understanding the underlying good things in the budget. He said that the government has included some of the suggestions of the GCCI in the budget but left out others.

President of leading cooperative body the National Federation of Urban Cooperative Bank and Credit Societies Ltd (NAFUCB) Jyotindra Mehta said that the budget would be helpful in dealing with the economic slowdown. Several good measures including steps to double the incomes of farmers have also been taken in the budget.
