Mohan Bhagwat to inaugurate revamped State headquarters of RSS in Gujarat

Ahmedabad: City based Hedgewar Bhavan, the Gujarat State headquarters of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is undergoing final phase of revamp works. The reconstructed headquarters is going to be dedicated on February 15 by RSS chief (Sar Sangh Chalak) Mohan Bhagwat. A ground plus five-storey building has a hall on the first floor while other floors are to be used for office and residential purpose.

The old Gujarat State headquarters of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) was built in year 1964, around 55 years ago. Its Vastu pujan was held in presence of then RSS chief Balasaheb Devras. The new reconstructed building’s pravesh programme will be led by current RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on February 15. Bhagwat will address a gathering of invitees who contributed to the reconstruction of new headquarters.

Bhagwat will also address a public function in Dinesh hall near Ashram road on the same day. The next day, on February 16, Bhagwat will attend and address a function at Transstadia stadium in which RSS cadres will remain present with their family members.

According to senior RSS man Amrut Kadiwala, the headquarters building is owned by Hedgewar Trust. Like all other assets, the building is not owned by RSS.

Estimated cost of reconstruction of this building is Rs. 8 crore according to RSS prachar pramukh Shri Hitendra Mojidra.

Kadiwala said the new headquarters building has two underground floors for parking, plus ground plus five structure on the surface. The top two floors will be used for residual purpose of Pracharaks and visiting guests. The building will have halls of different capacities. The largest among them has capacity to accommodate 200 to 300 persons. The building has library, two lifts, water conservation and solar power generation etc facilities.

Kadiwala in reply to a question said RSS in Gujarat was functioning in a small space located next to old stock exchange in Manek Chowk area prior to Hedgewar Bhavan at Baliakaka road in Maninagar.

He said the reconstruction project was taken up to address the changed situation. The building is located on Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) route. Parking of visitors outside on road-side was not possible. As per AMC rules, building was needing changes.

Present Prime Minister Narendra Modi used to live in this State headquarters of RSS for full time when he was Pracharak serving RSS.
