Junagadh: Girnar ascending, descending competition will be held with the use of latest technology this year.

Scheduled to take place on February 9, the national level competition to reach peak of Gujarat and return will see use of latest chip timing system which is also used in police recruitment, marathon run and Olympic sports.

The chip will stay under chest number of each player. An expert team of engineers from Bengaluru based LS Sports will come to operate it. Same team has earlier done the task of noting timing of each player in marathon race involving more than 10,000 persons.

Three carpets will be laid on the route of Girnar competition. One will be located at starting point, the other will be at 2200th step while the third will be at 5500th step. Timing of each competitor will be registered at three places. Each player will be informed about his/her timing of completion of race through SMS.

A team of 160 persons including Junagadh Vyayam Samgh’s office bearers, trainers of Sports Authority of Gujarat from Amreli, Bhavnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Rajkot, technical managers, instructors of Junagadh Parvatarohan Talim Kendra etc will be on duty to ensure success of the event.

As many as 503 persons from Gujarat, Maharshtra, Diu, Haryana, Rajasthan, UP, Punjab, MP, Bihar, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh have registered to participate in this competition. Of them 161 are from Gujarat.

257 gents will participate in senior section while 113 in junior section. 69 women will participate in senior section while 64 in junior section.
