Russian Consul General calls on Gujarat CM; possibilities of RZD – G-Ride partnership for Ahmedabad – Rajkot Semi High-Speed rail project discussed

Gandhinagar: A meeting between Gujarat Government and Russian Consul was held today here to discuss partnership between Gujarat govt arm G-Ride and Russian rail company RZD for proposed Rajkot – Ahmedabad semi high-speed railway project.

The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, Consul general of Russian federation in Mumbai Mr. Aleksei V Surovtsev and Russian government’s public arm Russian Railways RZD International’s Mr. Vladimir Finov among others.

RZD has made Detail Project Report (DPR) for 580 km Nagpur – Sikandarabad high speed railway. It has also completed a 625 km high speed railway project connecting St Peterzberg to Moscow.

According to a note issued by the Gujarat govt, RTZ has expressed willingness to contribute to proposed Rajkot-Ahmedabad semi high speed rail project.

DPR of Ahmedabad-Rajkot project will be made by Gujarat govt arm G-Ride company. RTZ according to Gujarat govt note said, it can contribute to detailed engineering design, project execution and entire finance in consultation with the Government of India and Government of Gujarat for Rajkot – Ahmedabad semi high speed rail project which can be completed in two years after design is ready.

RZD has already signed MoUs for railway modernization, modern signalling etc projects in India.

The Chief Minister today suggested a meeting between G-Ride and RTZ on February 14.

RZD also proposed its cooperation to increase rail connectivity between ports and freight corridors and speed of passenger and goods trains.
