Gujarat govt to come out with policy for e-vehicles; GUVNL inducts 5 e-cars

Gandhinagar: The Government of Gujarat will come out with a policy to encourage the use of e-vehicle, said state Energy minister Saurabh Patel while dedicating five e-vehicles taken on five-year lease by Gujarat government arm Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (UGVCL). A tender for e-vehicle was issued by the Centre following which the Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) has taken 18 e-vehicles on lease. 5 of them are leased to UGVCL. The contract also involves charing station facilities. Speaking on this occasion, minister Saurabh Patel said that more charging stations will be set up in order to encourage the use of e-vehicles in Gujarat through public private partnership (PPP) mode. Patel said inputs an opinions have been sought from related departments before the announcement of policy for e-vehicles.
