AUDA finalizes Rs. 929 crore budget for fy 2020-21, Nehra shares the details of planned items

Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) today announced Rs.929 crore budget for financial year 2020-21.

According to AMC Commissioner Vijay Nehra this year’s budget will be 122% of previous year’s modified budget.

Nehra announced that the works of 7 flyovers announced in last year budget are in progress and shall be completed by March 2021.

Three new flyovers are to be constructed at Narmada main canal in Bhat, Ghuma railway line level crossing number 16 and Apollo junction in Bhat. While AUDA will bear Rs. 105 crore cost, the projects will be completed at a cost of Rs. 200 crore in partnership with Railways and Road and Building department of Government of Gujarat. With these flyovers, busy junctions on entire ring road will get flyovers in direction to achieve junction free ring road.

Nehra said, while presently the works are underway to construct 2,639 affordable housing units, AUDA has decided to construct 5,080 new affordable housing units next year at a cost of Rs. 593 crore.

Sharing the details of another major decision, he said entire development works of TP scheme (Town Planning scheme) such as roads, footpath, street light, drinking water and storm water line will be assigned under single tender to avoid coordination related issues. Three TP schemes chosen for integrated tender are located near the dedicated freight corridor. They are TP scheme number 437, 438 and 439. Total 67 km CC roads will be constructed at a cost of Rs. 289 crore with footpath, underground lines and street lights. In other TP schemes, around 100 km new roads are planned to be constructed.

Nehra said, major villages and municipalities will be offered decentralized sewage treatment plants of 1 and 1.5 mld capacity. Mahemdavad, Lapkaman, Ghuma, Khoraj and Singarva are shortlisted for this plan.

Rs. 45 crore provision in addition to previous year’s provision has ben made for 24 by 7 water supply.

Mahemdavad will get Rs. 5 crore auditorium. Rs. 50 crore allocation has been made for auditoriums.

While works for 5 new gardens are in progress, AUDA has planned to start works on 113 new gardens at one go next year covering all 113 TP schemes.

Beautification projects for 46 ponds will also kick off next years as per the decision taken today, Nehra said.

He said, there are 167 gram panchayats and 6 municipalities in AUDA area, but they lack the structure for solid waste collection, segregation processing etc. AUDA will offer them assistance to set up such structure.

Nehra also announced a biodiversity park in AUDA area and a party plot at Singarva.
