Parimal Nathwani to contest for Rajya Sabha from Andhra Pradesh with support of YSRCP led by Jagan

Gandhinagar: Shri Parimal Nathwani, a two-term independent Rajya Sabha member from Jharkhand will contest from Andhra Pradesh in upcoming Rajya Sabha election. Senior YSR Congress party leader Ummareddy Venkateswarlu today made announcement that the party will nominate Parimal Nathwani to Rajya Sabha.

Nathwani in a tweet on micro blogging social media site Twitter thanked Andhra Chief Minister YS Jagan and YSR Congress party for considering him as Rajya Sabha canidate from Andhra Pradesh. Nathwani added, he is committed to serve the people of Andhra Pradesh.

Nathwani is Group President of Reliance Industries Ltd. He was Vice Presdient of Gujarat Cricket Association. He is at present the President of Gujarat Football Association. He is also member of Nathdwara Temple Trust. As Jharkhand Rajya Sabha MP, Nathwani had asked second highest number of questions in the Upper House during the first half of the Budget Session this year between January 31 and February 11.

Recently, RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani, accompanied by his son Anant and Parimal Nathwani had met Reddy at the latter’s residence in Amaravati. The closed-door meeting had given rise to speculation that it was political and not related to business.This was the first meeting between the two since the Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSRCP stormed to power in May last year.
