Malls, gardens, weekly haats closed in Surat; parks, gardens, children playgrounds closed in Rajkot

Surat/Gandhinagar: Municipal Commissioner of Surat today said: Starting from today till 31st March, Malls, Gardens, Weekly Haats will remain closed in Surat. I request people to avoid Shopping Markets and Hotels for safe health of all. Take care of elderly people and other needy people at home.

The Mayor of city Jagdish Patel in a tweet said: ‘We have successfully countered the situations such as flood and plague in the past. Now we have to fight and win against Covid2019. Surat’s resilience is world famous. Let’s follow all the rules and directives tightly and once again give introduction of our strength to the world.’

It’s worth noting that one coronavirus positive case was confirmed yesterday in Surat city.

The other case in Gujarat was found in Rajkot city yesterday.

According to PRO of Rajkot Municipal Corporation, all parks, gardens and children playgrounds are declared shut today as preventive measure against coronavirus spread.

In another development, principal secretary of Health is going to hold a press conference at 11.00 am in Gandhinagar amid unconfirmed news reports and social media messages that one more positive coronavirus case has been traced in Ahmedabad.

The government had declared two positive cases, one each in Rajkot and Surat yesterday. The government had also added: there are two more suspected cases of COVID. Confirmation report is awaited, however we have initiated all action as per the SOP. Contact listing and quarantine being undertaken by District teams. We appeal to people to strictly follow quarantine guidelines.
