Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today thanked the people for staying at home and observe Janta Curfew in response to PM Narendrabhai Modi’s call.
Rupani also expressed displeasure over gathering of people in the shape of procession in Khadia area of Ahmedabad while marking 5 Baje 5 Minute call in which they had to simply make sound through clapping or utensils to express gratitude toward front line doctors, nurses, para medical and sanitation staff fighting the challenge of novel coronavirus.
Rupani explained what is lockdown and how gathering during lockdown can kill the entire purpose of lockdown. He said the mistake of assembling must not repeat during lockdown period.

It’s worth noting that some people in Khadia had gathered at 5 pm in shape of procession while the entire purpose of Janta Curfew call was social distancing. Some people during Janta Curfew gathered outside their residential societies and behaved in a group like there was some celebration going on. Some people also played Garba.
Was waiting to guage the percentage of success of today's Janta Curfew till the end of the day. Above 97% success till 5 pm, and then I started cutting the score, thanks to mini or mega versions of what you are seeing in this clip at some places. Killing the purpose! Stupidity. pic.twitter.com/03ggYSwPGb

The PM had in his address to the nation said: In the current circumstances, these services cannot be considered to be ordinary. Today, these people run the risk of getting infected themselves. Yet, they continue to fulfill their duties, serving others. As defenders of the nation, they stand firmly between us and the Corona pandemic. The nation is grateful to them all.I wish that on Sunday, 22nd March, we express our gratitude to all such people. On Sunday at exactly 5 pm, we all stand at the doors, balconies, windows of our homes, and give them all a 5-minute standing ovation. We clap our hands, beat our plates, ring our bells to boost their morale, salute their service. To inform people about this, I request local authorities across the country to ring a siren at 5 pm on 22nd March. We must with full sincerity, express our feelings towards all such fellow citizens who have lived by our value-system of ‘Seva Parmo Dharma’, that is Service being the highest Duty.
