Gujarat under Lockdown till 31st March as Covid19 cases up at 30; 5 cases of local transmission

Gandhinagar: Entire Gujarat to be in complete lockdown from midnight today to 31st of March, Gujarat police chief DGP Shivanand Jha made announcement today in urgently called press conference at State police bhavan here.

Jha said State borders are sealed. Four companies of Rapid Action Force (RAF) sought for implementation. Movement to be allowed only for essential services and for citizens to get essential commodities.

Additional Chief Secretary, Home department, Government of Gujarat Smt Sangita Singh read out the related notification and listed essential items for which people would be allowed to venture out.

Number of cases

Gandhinagar: The total number of confirmed coronavirus positive cases in Gujarat is now 30. State health department’s Principal Secretary Jayanti Ravi shared this information in media briefing here today afternoon.

According to State health department, 12 new coronavirus positive cases had been confirmed today as on 10 am. Among them 6 cases involved foreign returned persons while 5 cases were in local transmission category.

Ravi said, 11,108 persons are quarantined across Gujarat at present. 224 have been put under mandatory govt quarantine facilities. 10 FIRs are filed for breach of prescribed quarantine protocols.
