System over West Rajasthan and adjoining Pakistan likely to cause spells of rain, thunderstorms in parts of Gujarat

Ahmedabad: Under the influence of a cyclonic circulation lying over West Rajasthan and adjoining Pakistan extending up to 1.5 km above mean sea level, parts of Gujarat is likely to see spells of non-seasonal rain, thunderstorms and lightening during the four days beginning today.

According to the met bulletin issued by the IMD center rainfall occurred at isolated places in the district of Saurashtra namely Amreli during last 24 hours too.

The mercury was also going up across Gujarat with Amreli touching a maximum of near 40 temperature (39.2 °C ) which was highest in the state today. Ahmedabad which also saw partly cloudy sky saw the maximum of 37.4° C which was almost a notch above normal while the minimum at 25.3°C was 4.5 °C higher than normal. The city was also likely to see a spell of rain and thunderstorm on March 26.

According to the bulletin no large change in maximum and minimum temperatures was very likely over the region during next 3 days.

The rain forecast is as following –
DAY-1 (Today):-

Light to moderate rain/ thundershower very likely at isolated places in the districts of North Gujarat region namely Banaskantha; in the districts of Saurashtra-Kutch namely Dwarka and Kutch. Dry weather very likely all the districts of South Gujarat region, remaining districts of North Gujarat region, Saurashtra and in Diu, Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli.

DAY-2(Valid from 0830 Hrs. IST of 25/03/2020 to 0830 Hrs. IST of 26/03/2020):-

Light to moderate rain/ thundershower very likely at a few places in the districts of South Gujarat region namely Surat, Narmada, Tapi, Valsad and Navsari; in the districts of Saurashtra-Kutch namely Bhavnagar, Amreli, Junagadh, Porbandar and Kutch. Dry weather very likely all the districts of North Gujarat region, remaining districts of South Gujarat region, Saurashtra and in Diu, Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli.

DAY-3(Valid from 0830 Hrs. IST of 26/03/2020 to 0830 Hrs. IST of 27/03/2020):- Light to moderate rain/ thundershower very likely at a few places in the districts of Gujarat region namely Ahmedabad, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Mehsana, Gandhinagar, Surat, Anand, Narmada and Tapi; in the districts of Saurashtra namely Bhavnagar, Amreli, Junagadh Rajkot, Morbi and Gir Somnath. Dry weather very likely in remaining districts of Gujarat region, Saurashtra-Kutch and in Diu, Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli.

DAY-4 (Valid from 0830 Hrs. IST of 27/03/2020 to 0830 Hrs. IST of 28/03/2020):-

Light rain very likely at isolated places in the districts of North Gujarat region namely Dahod and Chhota Udepur. Dry weather very likely in all districts of Saurashtra-Kutch, South Gujarat region, remaining districts of North Gujarat region and in Diu, Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli.

DAY-5(Valid from 0830 Hrs. IST of 28/03/2020 to 0830 Hrs. IST of 29/03/2020):-

Dry weather very likely in all districts of Gujarat region, Saurashtra-Kutch and in Diu, Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli.
