Gujarat govt to procure 1,000 ventilators, training for operators underway

Gandhinagar: Gujarat government today said that it is in process to procure 1,000 ventilators.
‘We have sufficient number of ventilators available with government and also in private facilities. However process for procurement of 1,000 ventilators has been started. The government has identified as many as 9000 persons including physiotherapists, Ayush doctors, dentists, nurses, practitioners for training of operating ventilators. 800 of them are undergoing training at present in partnership with Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industries (GCCI). The government believes that it needs to have sufficient ventilator operators for three shifts if number of patients in ICU increases eventually. The training involves live demonstration and practical sessions with the use of two ventilators,” Principal Secretary of Health said in her briefing to media persons.
Similar trainings are also planned in Rajkot and Vadodara.
Principal Secretary said, sufficient stock of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)will arrive from Delhi by tomorrow. The state has sufficient stock of triple layer masks and N95 masks.
The state has so far witnessed 82 confirmed cases of Covid19 including 6 deaths and 6 full recovery.
