Rajkot based Jyoti CNC manufactures indigenous ventilator machine in 10 days, first 1,000 to be gifted to Gujarat govt

Rajkot: Rajkot based Jyoti CNC has developed an indigenous manufactured ventilator in just ten days. Trial run of company-made ventilator took place in Asarwa Civil hospital here in presence of Chief Minister Vijay Rupai and Dy CM and Health minister Nitin Patel today.

The Company has developed ventilator in technological partnership with Ahmedabad based RSP company.

According to Chief Minister Rupani, the trial run of locally manufactured ventilator which has been named ‘Dhaman-1’ is attached to a patient since morning and it is successful. Its mass production will commence soon and it will be supplied across the country.

Jyoti CNC owner Parakramsinh Jadeja said, as many as 150 persons worked day and night to make this project successful. Parts to manufacture indigenous ventilator machines were received from 26 different companies. The State government extended full cooperation in this task, he said adding that the Government has given certificate to company’s ventilator product. Dr. Rajendrasinh Parmar who worked for five years in America was contacted by Jyoti CNC to make the project successful.

‘Our biggest challenge was that no imported part was possible to procure in current condition, and therefore we had to make the parts locally and that too suitable for mass production. Testing and certification process has been successful in Gandhinagar after 20-hour functioning of machines,’ Jadeja said.

‘Covid patient needs pressure-controlled ventilator and this is the same,’ he added.

‘No supplier inquired about the price and they were all willing for success of this project. We will donate 1,000 pieces to Gujarat government before its supply elsewhere. Such ventilators are available for around Rs. 6.50 lakh per piece generally, but Jyoti CNC has manufactured it at a cost of less than Rs. 1 lakh. People close to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray are in contact with us, as they too need these machines,’ he said.

‘So far 3 machines are manufactured. In next ten days, initially 100 pieces are to be manufactured per day. We will ramp up the production after that as per requirement,’ he said.

‘ARDS patients require such machines. We are testing the machine on patient today and it has been successful so far. This is a great gift to the world from Gujarat,’ Dr. Kamlesh Upadhyay of Civil hospital said.

According to Dy CM Nitin Patel, Ventilators are not available in sufficient number worldwide today. Chief Minister who hails from Rajkot himself contacted Jyoti CNC Chairman and asked him that his global level company and his knowledge of engineering should be utilized to manufacture ventilators. While market price of ventilator is over Rs. 6 lakh, Gujarat has manufactured ventilator for less than Rs. 1 lakh in just 8-9 days. Engineering and medical side trials were completed today and late in the evening at 11.00 pm, certification process was completed. Today a patient in Civil hospital who actually required ventilator support has been put on this ventilator.

Nitin Patel said, CM Rupani constantly did follow up in the course of this project. He would contact Dr. Kamlesh Upadhyay, Mr. Parakramsinh Jadeja frequently and inquire about the progress of the project. He would always offer help for whichever part required and whatever role the government could play for that.

According to Jadeja, Dhaman-1 is basic model ventilator manufactured for urgent requirement in connection with Coronavirus crisis, but more features will be added to it soon and upgraded version will also be manufactured.
