Nagarwada attack case: Karelibag police nabs 10, search is on to nab 7 more accused

Vadodara: Karelibag police has nabbed 10 of 17 accused in police attack case. The attack according to FIR happened near Kasam Aala mosque of Nagarwada area while police was implementing lockdown orders early in the morning on Monday.

Nagarwada is declared red zone due to high number of Covid19 cases detected in the area.

According to FIR, Nazir Sindhi used abusive words against police jawan Gautam Kanti and asked Gautam to leave the place in Nagwarda area if he wanted to stay alive late in the night when Gautam was there to implement the lockdown orders.

Gautam Kanti called his higher ups and sough back up.

Later at 5.00 am, 17 persons who are named in FIR and around 50 men and women were seen in the streets even after Sehri iftar event of early morning in Ramzan was over.

When police men went to them to convince that they should go inside, the locals started using abusive language against police.

Nazir brought sword and sticks. Rizwan Lakhajiwala and Sindhi had swords in hands and they were leading the mob.

Sindhi was also provoking toe mob. Soon the police team was attacked with stones and bottles. Sindhi also lifted a bicycle and threw it at police team. Tahir and Nazir in the crowd involved into scuffle with police men.

More backup was sought soon and 10 persons were nabbed using force by police men.

Some women then came forward and captured video of police men to defame them that police men were drunk.

17 accused named in the FIR and in total 50-strong mob are booked under IPC sections 307, 353, 332, 323, 337, 269, 270, 294(B), 506(2), 143, 148, 149, GP act section 135 and Disaster Management Act section 51 and 54.
