Police team was in Guhya mohalla for sealing of entry of Covid19 containment zone with barricades. On Thursday, ward number 3 , 6 and 9 were declared containment zones. Guhya mohalla is adjacent to Polan Bazaar, which has five active cases of Covid19 as of Thursday night.
According to IPS Leena Patil, some instigators were provoking during the procedure of sealing related to cluster quarantine. When police nabbed the instigator, others started attacking the police with stones. One police inspector was minorly injured. Police lobbed five tear gas shells and restored peace.
More details will be known after formal FIR is filed.
It’s worth noting that the State government had given permission for most of the shops to open in all districts barring four major cities with effect from last Sunday. However due to rising number of Covid19 cases in Godhra, the district administration had cancelled these relaxations. State DGP had on Wednesday in his briefing announced one State Reserve Police (SRP) Company for Godhra to enforce effective and strict lockdown.
