Gujarat govt mulling to allow Surat to Saurashtra travel; important announcements made today

Gandhinagar: The Government of Gujarat may soon come out with a guideline to allow movement of people from Surat to various districts of Saurashtra.

Secretary of Chief Minister’s Office, Ashwani Kumar shared following details:

– Surat has large population of Saurashtra origin diamond industry workers. Many of such diamond artisans want to return to their native places in Saurashtra.

– At present no permission has been given for movement from Surat to various districts of Saurashtra such as Amreli, Botad and Bhavnagar.

– However the government is thinking about this and preparing a strategy for the same.

– The government is concerned about possibility of spread of infection if large scale shifting is allowed.

– The government also needs to plan and arrange transportation facilities for the same.

– The process whenever will kick off will be implemented in phased manner.

– Each passenger will need to go through medical screening while leaving Surat and also on arrival at destination.

– Each passenger will be checked for symptoms of cold, fever, breath problem, coughing and others. Those found to have any of symptoms will not be allowed to travel.

– On their arrival at destination place, passengers will need to go for 14 days quarantine.

– Gram Panchayats and Nagar Palikas if required may chose the option of institutional quarantine.

– In addition to 14-day quarantine, there will be another condition attached. Those reaching the destination will not be permitted to return to Surat in next one month period.
