AMC serves notices to 16 hospitals over non-compliance of regulation order

Ahmedabad: Over a dozen private hospitals in the city have been served notices due to non-compliance of regulation order dated 16th May 2020 under Epidemic Diseased Act 1897, passed by Municipal Commissioner, Ahmedabad. These hospitals have been declared as designated Covid-19 hospitals and were directed to provide 50% of the total number of beds for Covid patients to be referred by AMC, the rest 50% to be treated privately.

These hospitals, despite the order of Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and also appeal by Amdavad Medical Association (AMC) have refused to cooperate and provide hospital beds for Covid patients in a war like situation.

Therefore, AMC has issued notices to them to take action under civil and criminal law, including filing of FIR against their management for deliberately and willing fully disobeying and causing grave prejudice to the safety and security of the public at large.

The hospitals that are served notices are – Sterling hospital, Life Car hospital, Sardar hospital, Body Line hospital, Bopal ICU and Trauma Centre, Shrey hospital, Saraswati hospital, SAL hospital, Rajasthan hospital, SGVP hospital, Sanjeevani hospital, Global hospital, Karnavati super specialty hospital, Sindhu hospital, Star hospital, Medilink hospital.

AUDA notice to Sterling Hospital

Amdavad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) has served notice to Sterling hospital for violation of conditions agreed during the time of allocation of land to the hospital. As per the notice draft, Sterling hospital was allotted 4,691 square meter land on 90 years lease. One of the conditions (number 10A) was that 80% area of construction on the ground floor will be used for operating public clinic facility run by public charitable trusts, but such condition has not been followed.
