Sakar 7 is a low-rise office building. Fire broke out in the basement area reportedly in electric lines, but smoke spread through the building soon. Those in upper floor offices, broke glass panel in attempt escape from smoke and breath outside. While they were standing outside the windows on upper floor, one person among them, visibly panicked tried to hold a cable in his hand in order to come to the ground with the help of cable, however the cable broke down due to his weight and he felled down. The person was taken to hospital due to serious injury. Others are safe.

Fire was controlled and doused.

Chief Fire Officer Minoch Dastoor said, ‘it’s a ground plus four storey low rise building. A cable duct is located in the middle and it passes through ground plus four floors. Fire broke out probably due to over loading and was limited to electric duct but smoke spread all around. There was no visibility due to smoke. Fire brigade has rescued 35 persons. As it is low rise building, fire system is not required but extinguisher are there. Stair case is well ventilated but internal passages are narrow.’

Update: A person who jumped from the building has succumbed to head injury.
