50,000 shifted, 21 teams of NDRF and SDRF deployed in South Gujarat: State government

Gandhinagar: The Government of Gujarat today said that as more than 50,000 people have been shifted to safer places in wake of Nisarga cyclone which is going to cross neighbouring Maharashtra coast today afternoon.
The government in a statement issued today morning said that Southern Gujarat coastal districts Valsad and Navsari are likely to witness 100-110 km per hour winds, while in Bharuch and other areas the wind speed will be 70-80 km/hour. These areas are also likely to witness rains.
15 trams of NDRF and 6 teams of SDRF are deployed in coastal areas. Fishermen have been recalled to the land. Labourers in lobster farms (inland fishing) and salt industries have been taken to safer places. 236 hoardings and high-masts have been taken down in Surat, Valsad and other cities and towns. More than 250 ambulances have been kept ready along with 170 medical emergency teams.
Industrial units in Vapi have been advised to stay shut.
