Gujarat Congress takes party MLAs to resorts ahead of Rajya Sabha election
June 06, 2020
Gandhinagar: After resignations of 8 party MLAs from State assembly, opposition Congress party has once again taken its MLAs to resorts. While Central and South Gujarat MLAs have been kept at Aeries Riverside resort in Umeta in Anand district, North Gujarat MLAs have been taken to Wild Winds resort near Gujarat border in Rajasthan. MLAs from Saurashtra/Kutch region are taken to Rajkot based Nil City resort of party leader Indranil Rajyaguru. Polling for four seats of Rajya Sabha is scheduled to take place on June 19. Five Congress MLAs had resigned from the State assembly in the month of March this year following which Congress MLAs were taken to a resort in Jaipur in Congress-ruled neighboring state Rajasthan. Due to Coronavirus situation and lockdown the MLAs later returned to Gujarat. Three more Congress MLAs have given resignation post lockdown this week. Looking at the present strength of the party in numbers, only one of two Congress candidates can go to Rajya Sabha.
