Labour department issues closure order to Hemani Industries, Ankleshwar unit

Gandhinagar: The Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health (DISH), which functions under the Labour and Employment department issued a closure notice to Hemani Industries in Ankleshwar, Bharuch, where in incident of fire, one worker was killed and five were injured on Friday.
Fire broke out in plant number 4 of the agrochemical, pesticides, and herbicides manufacturer in the early hours of Thursday following a blast in a reactor owing to an exothermic the reaction during the processing of raw material, preliminary investigation by DISH showed.
The mishap in the unit led to the death of one worker, while five others were injured and are under treatment.
“We have issued a closure notice to the whole plant following an inspection by DISH officials. The plant will remain closed till we are satisfied that all necessary compliance related to the safety of workers are in place, and till appropriate compensation is paid to the affected workers and their kin,” said Vipul Mittra IAS, additional chief secretary, Labour and Employment department.
