Surat: Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has started using a multilevel parking building in SMIMER hospital campus as Covid Centre with 540 beds now in place there. The Centre has been named as SMIMER plus. It has ventilators, oxygen bottles and other facilities for Covid patients.

On the first day, 50 Covid19 patients were referred to SMIMER Plus on Wednesday. This multilevel parking building had to be converted as Covid centre, as the existing hospital building located next to it had no more space for additional beds.
