Priyanka Vadra asked to vacate Sarkari bungalow worth 100s of crores, she is using as private citizen since 1997

New Delhi: Congress general secretary Priyanka Vadra has been asked to vacate her government allotted bungalow worth Rs. 350 crore within a month. Priyanka lives in 35, Lodhi Estate, which is spread over an area of 2,765.18 square metre.

Priyanka was allotted 35 Lodhi Estate, a Type VI bungalow, in February 1997 for security reasons, after the recommendation of SPG, home ministry and Cabinet Secretariat on the basis that SPG protectees need an independent bungalow of certain specifications to provide the security cover. Congress supported United Front government led by Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda was in power in those days.

However, with her SPG cover gone – the reason for her getting government accommodation – Priyanka had to vacate her house.

Modi government changed the rules for allotment of government accommodation in 2015 and made only SPG protectees eligible for government accommodation. Prior to 2015, even those with Z plus security were entitled for government accommodation.
