Ahmedabad City Crime Branch prevents loot and extortion crime, nab five

Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad City Crime Branch has nabbed five persons who are leaving the city to commit crime of loot and extortion in Southern Gujarat town Vapi.

Crime Branch had received a tip-off that Sarkhej based Arif Shaikh and Vapi based Altaf Mansuri had made a plan to loot an office of a businessman in Vapi and extort crores of Rupees from him. The accused, as per the information received by police, were to pass through an underpass near Balaji Agora mall in a particular cars, details of which were available to police.

Accordingly, the police teams stopped two cars and picked up Arif Shabbir Sheikh of Sarkhej, Mohammad Javed Salim Bandhniwala of Jamalpur Rajesh Rathod of Chharanagar, Vikki Jadeja of Chharanagar and Mohammad Faizan alias Maulana Mohammad Hanif Meman of Danilimda.

When checked, the cars had country made handmade pistol, live cartridges, six mobile phones and Rs. 12,000 cash.

According to police, the accused have told during questioning that Vapi based Mohammad Altaf Aziz Mansuri had given them details of presence of huge cash in his boss, Vapi based businessman Saeedbhai Sheikh’s office. Mansuri had suggested that Saeedbhai who is into construction business, has Rs. 50 crore, so looting his office and extort money from him would be a worth idea to execute.

The accused had managed to have a pistol from Madhya Pradesh and selected a farm-house in South Gujarat. The gang was formed by roping in old colleagues who worked as bouncers with one of accused.

Accused have been arrested under IPC sections 399, 402, 120B, Arms act 25(1-B) and GP act.
