Shankar Chaudhary announces Rs. 1144 crore hike in payment to milk producers at 52nd annual general meeting of Banas Dairy

Palanpur: Banas Dairy in North Gujarat today announced Rs. 1144 crore hike in payment to milk producers which comes to 16.66%.

Addressing the 52nd annual general meeting (AGM) of Banas Dairy, Chairman Shankar Chaudhary made this announcement.

In his presentation, Chaudhary shared the details that five years ago, Banas Dairy was producing 29.96 lakh liter milk, while today the figure has climbed to 59.76 lakh liter. Milk transportation cost has come down from 36 paise per liter to 33 paise inspite of hike in diesel prices, thanks to good governance, he said.

Five years ago milk producers would get Rs. 278 crore payment from Banas Dairy while today Rs. 728 crore are paid. Banas Dairy’s capital is up from Rs. 251 crore to Rs. 649 crore today. Dairy’s assets are worth Rs. 2,792 crore today, up from Rs. 879 crore. Dairy’s turnover is up at Rs. 12,170 crore from Rs. 5,441 crore earlier. Five years ago, Katarva cattle field’s production capacity was 1,000 MT which is 1800 MT toda. In last three years, Dairy has saved Rs. 5.50 crore on power thanks to solar system. Dairy’s German technology gobber gas plant has resulted into 15 per cent increase in farmers’ income.

Banas Dairy has taken up a latest project of potato plant. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had given a call of sweat revolution, in response to which Banas Dairy has taken some initiatives in this domain. Banas Dairy’s team of 250 vet doctors offer round the clock medical treatment to cattle. Last year 5.5 lakh visits were paid for treatment of cattle.

Chaudhary appealed for large scale tree plantation in his virtual address.

Dairy’s agenda proposed by In charge Managing Director Kamraj Cuahdyar was passed unanimously.

Director of Dairy and Lok Sabha member Parbat Patel in his address said, the district is not affected due to global slowdown only because of Banas Dairy which has produced record-breaking 73 lakh liter milk contributing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat’ call.

Director Joitabhai Patel said, in the last five years, the Dairy has not observed even single Milk holiday. The Dairy has collected 60 lakh liter milk on an everage per day. The highest single day collection in the history of Banas Dairy was at 7.372 lakh in this period, he added.

He spoke about Shankarbhai’s efforts for conservation of Kankreji breed. He said Kankreji’s treatment is offered for free. Additional Rs. 3 per liter payment is given to those who are into desi cow rearing. Due to these efforts, the number of Kankreji cows is up at 2.50 lakh from 1.48 lakh earlier.

Director PJ Chaudhary said, Banas Dairy doubled the production of cattle feed in last five years and at the same time also improved quality of cattle feed. New products hae been made in the domain of cattle feed. Banas Dairy offers quality cattle feed to cattle rearers on no-profit basis.

Director ML Chaudhary pointed out that in the last three years, milk business is facing serious challenging globally, however even in such difficult time, Shankarbhai has continue to paid high prices to milk producers. Banas dairy pays 82 of 100 paise from its revenue to milk producers. In 2014, Banas would pay Rs 728 crore per month to milk producers against which today it pays Rs. 728 crore. Educated youths of new generation are getting involved in milk production as part of ‘Milk industry’.

Director Dinesh Bhatol mentioned that in December 2015 when Shankar Chaudhary led board took over Banas Dairy’s administration, the total turnover of dairy was Rs. 5,441 crore. In five years span, it has climbed to Rs. 12,170 crore with historic jump.

Director Bhava Rabari said that Badarpura based old oil mill which was shut was restarted by Shankarbhai to produce cooking oil which has been now put in the market by Amul federation under the brand name ‘Janmay’.

Director Mulji Patel said that along with new dairy at Sanadar, a 48 MT processing capacity potato plant will also be in operation in future.

Director Dehiben Ayar said, women have become prosperous due to milk production activity.

Dirctor Karshanji Rathod said, Baradpura based 200 MT/day capacity take-home ration plant supplies nutritious food to Anganwadis in 12 districts.

Director Karshan Chaudhary said, the milk producers now also earn from gobber of buffaloes. Dama based gobber gas plant supplies gas fuel to run vehicles.

Director Falji Patel said, Banaskantha faces water scarcity. A pledge to plant 10 crore trees in next ten years by Shanakr Chaudhary has been rolled out with 19.86 lakh tree plantation last year.
