Bhuj: Pakistani rangers who in two flag meetings denied that a person shot dead by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) near Barmer sector of international border close to Gujarat in intervening night of Aug 7 and 8 was a Pakistani citizen, finally in third flag meeting accepted that the deceased was a Pakistani national and accepted his body. BSF had earlier in its note said the intruder was trying to sneak over the fence on the international border close to Gujarat.BSF troops challenged him, but he crossed the fence and ran towards a bush. Senior BSF officials said they fired at him and found his body lying behind a bush on Indian side of the border. At the same time BSF troops also noticed movement on the Pakistan side. BSF sources said similar attempts were made earlier by Pakistan during daytime and were also foiled by the BSF. However, this is the first time that an infiltration was attempted during night in the area. From the other footprints found, it is believed that six to seven persons were with the man who was shot dead, but they fled after hearing gunshots. Despite footprints of the man and other footprints seen visibly coming from their side, Pakistani rangers had initially denied the deceased was their citizen.
