Heavy rains in most parts of Gujarat; Anand receives 13 inches

Gandhinagar: There has been heavy to very heavy rains in parts of Gujarat with Anand in Central Gujarat on the top, receiving 13 inch rains in 12 hours. NDRF and Morbi District Administration teams conducted rescue operations last night for 6 villagers who were stuck in a causeway of a seasonal river near village Amran in Morbi Taluka. In all 13 NDRF teams are presently deployed in districts following heavy rain forecast, said Gujarat government official.
Total 225 roads are closed in the State due to rains, which includes 18 State highways, 5 major district roads, 1 other district road and 207 panchayat roads.The details: Vadodara-1(MDR), Chotaudepur-1(ODR), Bharuch-1(SH), Surat-6(SH). Tapi-1(SH),4(MDR), Rajkot-1(SH), Devbhumi Dwarka -1(SH), Surendranagar-1(SH), Porbandar-1(SH).Panchayat-207:Vadodara-10, Narmada-4, Chotaudepur-1, Dahod-2, Bharuch-2, Surat-94, Tapi-44, Navsari-17, Valsad-15, Dang-9, Rajkot-1, Devbhoomi Dwarka-2, Junagadh-3, Porbandar-3.
Power supply has been affected in 21 villages of Kodinar, Limbdi, Ranpur and Khambha talukas.
Waterlogging has beeb reported in several parts of Surat city following heavy rainfall in the area and overflow in khaadi channel that carry water to sea.
