Fire breaks out in Covid-19 ICU ward-2 of SSG hospital in Vadodara; patients evacuated timely and safe

Vadodara: Fire broke out in Covid-19 Intensive Care Unit – 2 in civic run SSG hospital here today evening post 7 pm. Over dozen patients were evacuated and they were being transferred for treatment. None of them was hurt. Those who required continuous oxygen supply were provided such supply post evacuation from a fire-hit ward, said city Mayor Jigishabahen. Power supply was shut due to incident of fire. Fire service team reached the spot timely and eventually controlled fire. According to State Health minister Nitin Patel, 15 patients from fire-hit ward and 20 patients from adjoining ward were evacuated and transferred for further treatment. It was a small incident of fire due to short circuit in ventilator machine. All are safe and fire is controlled. Entire building has hundreds of patients and their treatment is going in routine fashion. According to Mayor Jigishaben, work was going on to restore power supply so that the patients transferred from ICU ward and in need of ventilator can be put on regular ventilator support again.
