Parimal Nathwani, a Consecutive 3rd Time Rajya Sabha MP, Takes Oath

Mumbai: Shri Parimal Nathwani, a consecutive third time Rajya Sabha MP took oath today. Vice President of India and Chairman of Rajya Sabha Shri Venkaiah Naidu administrated the oath in his chamber. Shri Nathwani, who will be representing Andhra Pradesh this time, could not take oath with other newly elected members as he was indisposed and could not travel to Delhi.

Shri Nathwani, who represented Jharkhand in 2008 and 2014, got elected a third time for Rajya Sabha as YSR Congress candidate on 19th June 2020.

“I thank our dynamic and very popular young leader Shri YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, and YSR Congress Party, for giving me the opportunity to serve the people of this state. It is over a year since he became CM of AP and he has fulfilled nearly 90% of the promises made by him and he will do a lot more for the over-all development of the state in the remaining 4 years of his term. Our CM has focused on the ‘Navaratnalu’ or the 9 welfare schemes that he had promised to implement, and a lot has been achieved in each of these schemes,” said Nathwani after his swearing in at Delhi.

He further added, “Just last week Andhra Pradesh was ranked No. 1 state in ease of doing business rankings released by GoI’s Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade. On Monday, honourable CM had launched the YSR Sampoorna Poshana scheme which will provide over 30 lakh beneficiaries with fortified nutritious food. In August, Vijayawada & Visakhapatnam figured among top 10 cleanest cities in India (with population of over 10 lakh) as per the Swachh Survekshan 2020. These are only a few of the CM’s achievements as well as beneficial schemes for masses rolled out by him in last one year.”

“I am fully committed to serving the people of Andhra Pradesh and will work along with CM and his team for the development of the state. I will bring to the table my extensive experience gained during my 12 years as RS MP of Jharkhand and several decades of experience at Reliance Industries Ltd,” concluded Nathwani.

Parimal Nathwani is Rajya Sabha MP from Andhra Pradesh and Senior Group President at Reliance Industries Limited (RIL). Previously, he was a consecutive two term Rajya Sabha MP representing Jharkhand from 2008 to March 2020. He is well known as a key member of Reliance Industries Ltd. Chairman Mukesh Ambani’s core team. He considers Reliance patriarch Shri Dhirubhai Ambani as his mentor and role model. Nathwani played a pivotal role in setting up of the world’s largest refinery complex at Jamnagar in Gujarat. Besides land acquisition accomplished amicably, Nathwani also steered project execution creating infrastructure for RIL’s Petroleum Retail outlets, retail foray, gas transportation pipeline and Jio Mobile Network across the western states of India.

He had flair for public life from his younger days and was associated with MPs of Saurashtra, and once he even attempted to contest assembly elections from his native place Jam Khambhalia. He was considered as ‘Voice of Saurashtra’ due to his involvement in public life for taking up people’s issues to various forums.

Two terms (12 years) Rajya Sabha MP from Jharkhand, Parimal Nathwani is extremely popular across the board in Ranchi and rural Jharkhand. This is evident from the kind of work he has done. He utilised funds of Member of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) to almost 100 per cent for Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY), rural infrastructure, education, health, sanitation etc. The three model village panchayats Baram-Jaratoli, Chuttu and Barwadag adopted by him under SAGY and development work done there has been not only the talk of the town, but also worth emulating.

Nathwani as a member of various Business Delegations of Government of Gujarat travelled to over a dozen countries including Japan, Russia, South Korea, China, Switzerland, Uganda, Kenya, Astrakhan, etc and participated in Vibrant Gujarat Road shows. This gave him the opportunity to interact with global business leaders.

Parimal Nathwani is the person who until September 2019 as Vice President of Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) successfully monitored, supervised and executed the world’s largest stadium at Motera in Ahmedabad, the much talked about venue for ‘Namaste Trump’ event held in February 2020. The stadium, with a capacity of over one lakh spectators has been constructed from scratch.

Nathwani remained vice chairman of Dwarkadheesh Temple Trust in Gujarat for about 15 years. He steered and participated on behalf of Reliance in development of holy town of Dwarka in association with Government of Gujarat. Dwarka in Gujarat is the only holy town of India which finds a place both in ‘Char Dham’ and ‘Saptapuri’ pilgrimage of the world’s most ancient religion Sanatan Dharma. Nathwani is also a Member on Nathdwara Temple Board since more than 9 years. The Board is a supreme managing body for famous Pushti Margi Shrinathji shrine in Rajasthan.

Football in Gujarat got a boost with Nathwani’s election as president of Gujarat State Football Association (GSFA) in later half of 2019. He is supporting football activities at grass-root level in Gujarat on a sound footing.

‘Gir Lion: Pride of Gujarat’ and ‘Jharkhand Meri Karmabhoomi (Hindi)’; two of his books speak volumes of Nathwani’s capabilities. ‘Adorable and Admirable Parimal Nathwani’, one more book on his substantial contribution to Jharkhand is soon to be launched by the Times of India, Ranchi.
